The FOOT AND ANKLE UNIT of the UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF CANARY ISLANDS is a prestigious center specialized in Advanced Surgery of Foot and Ankle Disorders, considered nowadays one of the Spanish units of greater level.

In this unit, which is part of a Public University Hospital of Third Level attached to the University of La Laguna, Professor Herrera serves a potential population of 400,000 inhabitants. It is a Unit integrated in a Service of Traumatology and Orthopedics with 30 Consultants and 5 Residents.

Either posttraumatic, congenital or acquired deformities in the foot and ankle area are treated in a way individually tailored to the patient, this based on the latest research findings and literature.

Due to the characteristiscs of our center, we receive a lot of trauma patients, so one of our main topics is foot and ankle trauma and also post traumatic conditions (osteotomies, arthrodiastasis, arthrodesis, etc…). Also arthritic conditions of the hindfoot, midfoot, and forefoot deformities as the planovalgus, cavus foot, bunions, hammer toes, and others, are within the expertise of our center.
