The
Head Division includes the disciplines of surgery, anatomy and biology
as they relate to the metabolism, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation
of bone diseases resulting from traumatic injuries, malformations
and tumor-related lesions.
The focus of our clinical and scientific work is calcific tissue
and its interface with other structures (soft tissue, biomaterials).
Our main areas of investigation are the characteristics of bone and
cartilage and their handling in surgery of the neuro and visceral
cranium.
A special aim of this division is the support of interdisciplinary
and international groups in clinical and experimental research.
The opportunity to participate in meetings, collaborate on projects,
and work in head-surgery-centres with a focus on specific subjects results in benefits for young doctors.
We offer two areas of support:
Research
Education
Our research support is focused on achieving results with direct
application to clinical practice and the development of new methods
and techniques. The budget is independent of industry influences
but with high importance is placed on the qualifications of the researcher.
Educational support for residents is offered in 2 time frames:
3 months for studies
1 year for trainees
The aim of this program is direct communication with, and knowledge
transfer from, leading surgeons or scientists in head-surgery disciplines.
