King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with over 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 13,000 staff based across five main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics operates across three sites - King’s College Hospital London (KCH) located in Denmark Hill, Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Bromley and the Orthopaedic Elective Surgery Centre located at Orpington Hospital. Our unit does not have a PhD programme

The Elective components of the fellowships will be predominantly based at the Orthopaedic Elective Surgery Centre located at Orpington Hospital combined amongst the specialist surgeons. Individual Fellowships can be tailored to the interests of each candidate.

The foot and ankle department at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) is a national leader in research in minimally invasive and arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery. A full spectrum of elective and trauma foot and ankle surgery is performed and fellows with an interest in minimally invasive and arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery both clinical and research will benefit from the available exposure. The Foot and Ankle department at King’s College Hospital London (KCH), Denmark Hill is a world leading diabetic foot centre and major trauma centre and exposure both clinically and research in these areas is also available at the discretion of the fellow.

The Trust has built a reputation for high quality subspecialty services and has been recognised by our regional surgical trainees as an excellent training centre with the highest scores for training in South London and several awards for trainer of the year in the last few years including trainers and fellowship directors of the above programmes.
