The Cantonal Hospital Baselland (KSBL) is the central healthcare facility for the Basel region, providing extensive care to roughly 290,000 residents through its clinics, diagnostic services, and a wide array of consultations and therapies. Located in Liestal, Bruderholz, and the "Ambulatory Center" in Laufen, KSBL offers comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services in acute care and rehabilitation. Uniquely in Basel-Landschaft, the KSBL delivers 24/7 emergency and intensive care across three sites and has its own rescue service.

The Kantonsspital Baselland (KSBL) stands out in medical education and research, leading the way in applying cutting-edge research and innovations. Its close ties with the University of Basel, university institutes, and collaborations with the University Hospital Basel and other institutions fortify this role. As the Basel region's second-largest employer and a key training hub, KSBL significantly impacts education and professional development. By offering crucial medical services and diverse job opportunities, KSBL enhances Basel-Landschaft's appeal as a prime location to work and live, boosting the canton's overall value.

The Unit of Hand and Peripheral Nerve Surgery belongs to the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Musculoskeletal System and is thus part of the Center for the Musculoskeletal System. Within the scope of the extended basic care, we treat all hand surgical emergencies and elective pathologies of the hands, wrists, and upper extremities, including peripheral nerve surgery and patient-specific treatments, except for replantations. The microsurgical spectrum extends to limb reconstruction, especially of the lower extremity. Therefore, we are also accredited as a FESSH Hand-Trauma and Replantation Center.

The focus of the fellowship will be on hand and wrist trauma including fractures of the distal forearm as well as posttraumatic and degenerative hand and wrist pathologies, arthroscopic procedures peripheral nerve surgery. A training in basics of medical 3D-printing can be offered (in-hospital 3D-print unit). Advanced experiences in orthopedic/trauma surgery and at least basic experiences in hand surgery are mandatory. It is a public department, offering a 24 hrs emergency Service with an orthopedic affiliation. Accomadation on the Hospital campus can be arranged.
